Welcome to Cindy and David's 2014 Adventures
Nevada City
Can you believe your eyes?
Whilst Lori and I drove away to spend a day shopping, the men visited the local outdoor rifle range for a bit of sharp shooting practice.
Jeff took David to the local air strip near Nevada City where the Fire department ha s a number of specially designed planes for both spotting and for dropping retardent on fires.
THEN, the indoor shooting range had to be visited.
David, of course, has not handled a gun since he handed in his army FN7.62 semi-automatic assault rife in 1967.
We were taken by the Brooks to a local point of interest in Bridgport. This is the longest covered bridge in the United States and is in really good condition.
The property was owned by the Kneebone family and the bridge built by him. He charged a toll for through traffic.
We drove on into the mountains a little further and negotiated a bit of a steep descent to picnic at this beauty spot.
Apparently it is a favourite swimming area for young people (a bit of a challenge for older ones!) and this is a favourite spot for Alexi and Kaylie (Brooks) and their friends.
It was a beautiful day and we enjoyed sitting around eating and watching everyone playing and splashing in the crystal clear water.
Our farewell dinner at a lovely restaurant in Grass Valley called The Owl which is situated in a very historic building. It was a memorable meal! An opportunity to have a True American steak.
