The road over the mountains in our search for 'proper' weather.
We spent some time in the next town, Grafton, having the tyre replaced and the rest checkout, before setting out again. Intrepid travellers that we are! We spent that night in Glen Innes and had forgotten what a lovely town it is. Amazing buildings first and foremost and then a very good coffee shop!
Having started our trip with some reasonably acceptable weather, it steadily worsened again and so we decided to escape "west of the divide". We did not get too far (about 20 kms) before a tyre on the caravan blew most dramatically on the M1. Fortunately David was able to find a lay-by which was still a very unnerving (danger with the typical M1 traffic roaring past at top speed!)
Most grand buildings, apart from being Town Halls, are bank buildings and are on corner sites to make them outstanding. Every town has its Catholic School and their designs really stand out.

On to Moree, this time to spend 2 nights to enable us to enjoy their famous hot pools. Very crowded caravan park but gave quick access to the best pools in the area.
Each pool is at a different temperature and users are advised to only use the very hot ones, 36 and 39 degrees) for 15 minutes before moving to cooler ones. Bliss!

We have seen many a wide load during our travels but never one where the police come along first to get everyone (I mean everyone) to draw off and wait for the load to pass. It was 5 meters wide and took up the entire road. There was a 3 trailer road train in front of us and also one behind us! David actually commented later that once you are on these outback roads, seeing an "ordinary" car is very unusual. There are, of course, a large number of caravans and large 4 wheel drives tricked out with all sorts of camping gear and a never ending supply of 3 or 4 trailer trucks but very few mere cars!
