Cormorants entertain us now and again with a fish feeding frenzy off the beach.
Every now and again there is a sausage sizzle in the park for the residents and an entertainer comes along with his guitar to keep the party going. There is always a huge raffle of endless prizes of meat trays and bottles of wine on offer. We have been quite lucky and usually choose a meat tray to keep the fridge going! Residents usually run the whole thing with management providing meat and bread etc and drumming up an entertainer.
We had the pleasure of the company of two couples in the park this year. Both couples live on Bribie Island so they don't particularly come up for the weather like so many of us do (particularly Victorians!) but they look forward to a break. Ross and Sandra brought their bikes so we did a bit of cycling around the local area whilst Nev and Jeannie went off on another plan.
One evening we decided to give Trivia a try at the local RSL. It was an amazing experience as there must have been over 300 people there! The couple at the top of the picture played as their own team and did quite well (new residents in the Bay apparently) and they were very sympathetic with our attempts to score (any) points!!! Fun by all however and a good dinner thrown in.
We attended the Blessing of the Fleet festival down on the harbour by actually sitting at a picture window having a magnificent dinner. Way to go!
Fireworks here too!
Whilst here we have watched the enormous effort by the Council to complete an upgrade on the grounds next to the c/park and you can see the signs of the new turf on the right. They completed it all in time for the Whale festival on Saturday. You can see the building fence (left) which is the only bit not finished which is an upgraded skate park.
The Umbrella Solution to bringing the washing in every time the odd cloud passed over and sprinkled the washing line.
