Welcome to Cindy and David's 2018 Adventures
12 Cairns to Atherton
We took a picnic to Etty Bay which in the past has always given us a good close up of the Cassowary bird. Not so this time. Disappointing but we enjoyed the beach before driving of out into the country past Murdering Pt (!) and Silkwood ending up at Paronella Park for afternoon tea.
Paronella Park is a local tourist attraction which was built by a Spanish immigrant many years ago and has been run by a local family who have built it up to be quite attractive and with its own caravan park.

Time to make our way home. We headed up over the mountains to Atherton to stay for a couple of days to catch up with our friends who own a B&B and to spend a day or two enjoying the area. We stopped at Kuranda which has great markets and spent some time (and some money!) there.
Spent an afternoon at LakeTinaroo where David caught three fish all of whom were either inedible or too small but still made the afternoon interesting. Beautiful place. Huge lake, few people. Always a good combination.
