04 Hervey Bay Whale Watch

These pictures are self explanatory. We were fortunate enough to have the most marvellous whale watch trip. It was obviously a very active day for them out in the Bay and there were pods everywhere but this one decided they were just as interested in us as we were in them. The whales are Hump Back and these were juveniles. Imagine the size of a fully grown one!
This week we have been joined by our Bribie Island friends who have brought their van up for a week and so we all decided a whale watch was a definite. We chose a different sort of boat than the usual. No lunch or fancy stuff on offer, just a boat and three gigantic engines to get us out there fast and it is obviously a favourite with the whales although the captain did say it was the best trip he had done for a while! We actually went right over time and eventually ran away!!! Another boat took over so the pod did not feel abandoned....
