Welcome to Cindy and David's 2017 Adventures
02 Sydney to Brisbane and Maroochydore
Meantime, the journey north did consist of a couple of overnight stops, the first being Port Macquarie where we witnessed huge surf in strong winds.
June has arrived and in our lives that indicates a hasty departure from Sydney to warmer climes north. As we had promised to return for the July school holidays, we went as far as Brisbane and were pleasantly surprised to find how warm it was even that low down in Queensland. However, it did rain (and rain).
The first week was in an outer part of the city, Redcliffe peninsular. We had never actually explored Brisbane itself in all our travels and the two weeks planned for this
turned out to be very interesting and enjoyable.

Unfortunately a great many photos were lost during the first weeks of our trip due to BOTH phones dying! We now have wonderful new phones but few photos were retrieved. Most annoying.
One of the highlights was lunch with Peter and Chris who live in Brisbane and introduced us to the wonderful Mt Coot tha overlooking the city where we had a lovely lunch and a relaxed time together.
At Scarborough we could not resist their fish market and had the above delicious dinner cooked by Chef David. Moreton Bay Bugs are divine!
South Bank Brisbane is a delight plus a long ferry ride up and down the river on a lovely warm day were highlights of our stay.
The Bee Gees Memorial Wall in Recliffe (right) where the three brothers grew up and formed the band.
We took a day and drove inland to meet up with friends Sandy and Ross for lunch at Woodford. Enjoyed a very scenic drive to get there.

We moved parks to one close into the city and spent almost every day around the city, mainly because the buses were very frequent and convenient. On wet days we went to the Art Gallery or hung around the lovely city centre, the Clock Tower being very interesting with a very informative trip up (in a lift thank goodness!) with our guide.
The ferry ride revealed a great many bridges and amazing amounts of riverside apartment and office blocks beautifully designed. All very impressive.
And then we went on upwards to dear old Maroochydore and friends Beulah and Neville.
We spent a great deal of time with Optus during this period! New phones cause headaches!
Time flashed past and it was time to go on upwards to brother Mike and wife Laura's place for a few days and then to fly home to cold Thornleigh but our lovely family.
Mike & Laura's house looks more settled each year we visit.
We took a trip to Rainbow Beach which unfortunately meant driving through some organised "burning off" by the local fireys. Bit scary but they seemed to have it under control.
Then home to sunny Sydney. It truly is a picture postcard city. It was fun to be back to catch up with family and friends. Trip to be resumed.......
